The tiny squares connecting
physical & digital worlds

A QR code (Quick Response) is a two-dimensional matrix barcode encoding data in a grid of squares — readable by any modern smartphone camera in under a second, no app required.

Quick Response — coined in 1994

Invented by Denso Wave to track car parts. Today used by billions across payments, menus, marketing, healthcare, and events.

📦

Stores up to 7,089 characters

That's 200× more than a 1D barcode — enough for a full URL, vCard contact, WiFi credentials, or a short message.

🛡

30% damage tolerance built in

Reed-Solomon error correction lets your code scan reliably even when dirty, creased, or partially covered by a logo.

📱

No app needed since iOS 11 & Android 9

Every modern smartphone decodes QR codes natively via the default camera — frictionless for every user, everywhere.

02 · The Process

From scan to action
in under a second

Your phone silently runs a five-stage decoding pipeline — invisible, instant, and extraordinarily reliable.

01
📷

Capture

The camera finds the three corner squares to locate and frame the QR code in the viewfinder.

02
📐

Orient

Perspective and angle are corrected using alignment patterns — the code reads correctly at any tilt.

03
🔢

Decode

Each black or white cell is read as 1 or 0 — thousands of bits decoded in milliseconds.

04

Correct & Act

Reed-Solomon corrects damage up to 30%. The payload instantly opens a URL, saves a contact, or connects to WiFi.

Yes — static QR codes are completely free here, with no account required. Download unlimited codes as high-resolution PNG files. Dynamic QR codes (with analytics and editable destinations) typically require a paid subscription on specialist platforms.
Static QR codes never expire — the data is permanently baked into the pattern. Dynamic codes can be set to expire on a date you choose, and may stop working if the hosting service closes. Always run a scan test before printing large batches.
Static codes encode data directly — permanent once printed. Dynamic codes point to a short redirect URL you control, which can be updated anytime without reprinting. They also include scan analytics. Use static for fixed info (WiFi, contacts, text) and dynamic for campaigns.
The minimum is 2 × 2 cm for close scanning. For outdoor placements, add roughly 1 cm per metre of expected scan distance. Always download at the highest resolution and print as a lossless PNG — never compress a QR code image or it may stop scanning reliably.
Yes — logos covering up to 30% of the code area are safe thanks to built-in error correction. Use Error Correction Level H, keep the logo centred, and save it as a transparent PNG. Always re-test the code after adding a logo before printing.
QR codes themselves are just encoded data. The risk is what that data links to. Always preview the URL before tapping, check for HTTPS, and watch for misspelled domain names. Be cautious with codes on public payment terminals — scammers sometimes place stickers over legitimate codes.
Up to 7,089 numeric digits, 4,296 alphanumeric characters, or 2,953 bytes of binary data. In practice, shorter URLs produce simpler codes that scan faster. Keep URLs under 200 characters when possible for the best scan reliability.
